neral wants two pairs of gladiators to fight to the death in front of them. For a very hefty price Batiatus agrees. After making the gladiator deal, Crassus also buys the slave Virinia. Spartacus is chosen for the match. When the time to fight comes, Spartacus finds out that he will be paired with an Ethiopian. During the fight the Ethiopian has Spartacus at the point of his trident but does not kill him. After the Ethiopian tries to kill Crassus, he is killed and hung.
The next day Spartacus watches as Virinia is taken away from the school. This act upsets his terribly and he lets his rage out on the trainer Marcellus. The gladiators all join in the fight killing all of the guards and taking over the grounds. Batiatus narrowly escapes with his life. After raiding the school for weapons and valuables the group of 70-80 gladiators escape to loot and burn the villages of the countryside.
