In an ever changing world, people as a whole strive to better themselves both mentally and physically. Men and women attempt to peak their performance in every challenge that they face. These characteristics of the human spirit are what separate our species from all else. People have come to master their environment. If there is an obstacle to overcome, then the challenge is met and dominated. Though in our society due to the recent advances in drug development people have lessened there desires to face these challenges in a natural setting. Our society has become dependent on enhancing performance much to the effect of breeding for the benefit of intelligent genes or for the natural athlete. Why has our society come to the astounding solution that if the drug can than why not? If a drug allows a person who is without the drug normal then that person should be allowed to take the drug to exceed their normal potential. A drug such as Prozac enables a normal person to harness their emotions in a more positive way there should be nothing that should keep them from feeling in that manner.
There are various reasons for much of the population to oppose these ideas or to choose to compete without the aid of medical or medicated involvement. Their reasoning for this is the sense of accomplishment. Not just accomplishment, but don't forget that some religions don't allow medication or they simply rely on their faith to fix what is wrong or to help them to overcome an obstacle. Also, not just accomplishment, but just the moral sense of NOT using any sort of performance enhancing drug. If a person succeeds in winning their goal, is it then the drug that won or the person? Without the drug there is chance. Chance of relying on their own strong and weak points that enable them to succeed in their goals.
