The Charismatic Ministry of Peter throughout the Jews, Samaritans and Gentiles is an example for all Christians to apply to their own ministries. Peter sets the bar, and that bar is raised further later by Paul. The definition of a Charismatic movement is: any various groups within existing denominations emphasizing the charismatic gifts of speaking in tongues, healing etc (The Collins Dictionary). Thus in this context we are going to be looking at Peter's movement and how he emphases and allows the Holy Spirit to work through him, and how it pours out to the Jews, Samaritans and the Gentiles.
Peter's charismatic ministry to the Jews began in the beginning of Acts when Peter took control of the meeting in the upper room by allowing the Holy Spirit to work through him. Peter takes initiative and asserts himself as a leader when he talks about the death of Judas and therefore finding him a replacement. After that the Holy Spirit fell in the upper room, after prayer. Peter is one of the apostles and therefore receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the other apostles as "all" were filled with the Holy Spirit. Tongues of fire "became stationary on the head of each disciple; a proof that the Spirit of God had made each his temple or residence." (Adam) The verse says each disciple, which meant all of the disciples, which would have included Peter. This was God equipping Peter to have the Spirit in order to fulfill the promise of Jesus in Acts 1:5. With the spirit Peter could properly continue on and perform the second command that Jesus gave the disciples, to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth, to Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. This spirit brought down by god and promised by Jesus is what enabled and equipped Peter to continue on in the Charismatic ministry.
