Women are making themselves known in the work environment by showing men they are just as hard working as them, but is it helping women get the same opportunities as men? Women have come a long way in business from where they started, but the debated question is, "is it enough?" I believe it is not enough, because only 13.6 percent of congress is made up of women, only 1/3 of high school athletics are girls, and lastly, many important professions are ran predominantly by men.
One reason women have less success is that their roll in congress is only 13.6 percent, which I believe is very low. For example, Condoleezza Rice is the National Security Adviser, and that is a big job, but many women do not have this fair chance because some men will not allow it. This is unfair to respectable women who want to be like Condleezza Rice. It is said that 73 people in the congress are women, and that is enough success, however, I do not think so because I have never seen a women president or vice president.
Another reason women have little success is that only about 1/3 of high school athletes are female. An example of this is Highland High School they have more male sports than female sports, but it does not seem like they want to change it, or even care. I think this is unfair to female athletes who are looking for a more challenging or different sport. You may say that now women can compete in all Olympic sports, however, does it really matter if high school girls are not treated with the same respect.
One final reason women have only a small amount of success is that the important professions, according to the US Department of Labor, have all most all men and few women. For instance, U.S. piloting is made up of about 96 percent men, and about 4 percent women. This is unfair to women who want to make an honest living doing a fun and important profession like piloting. Some experts say that women are doing great in gaining 43
