Princess

             On a warm July day, I fell in love with something so precious but mischievous. I bought what I thought would be the greatest thing in my life in which turned out to be true. She was scared at first but she warmed up to me. I picked the name right then and there. Gabbie Renae rang through my head as I held my new two pound Chihuahua.
             Gabbie is a black, tan, and white Chihuahua; she has a dip stick tail with a white strip going from her nose to the middle of her head. Her ears too big for her head; she always had one standing straight up while the other one just flopped down. Her white tummy that always wanted to be scratched, and her French-tip nails made her complete.
             As I held her for the first time she took to me; I was trying to sign my signature and she wanted to play, specifically biting on the pen I was currently writing with. How could I ever let her go? She was my new baby who had just turned two months old.
             Later that day, I decided I needed to go get Gabbie some toys, food, and a kennel, so I went to Petco because "it is where the pets go." I was there for a good two hours. I had no idea how much a dog really cost. Letting her pick her bed, and, like me, she picked that I would have picked. She was so little that I had to get her a cat collar. I had to get a leash, treats, shampoo and so much more. Wow, a dog requires a lot. Let me tell you, my credit cards were getting a workout that day.
             I was finally able to bring little Gabbie girl home. Her stench was a mixture of five other dogs that needed a bath and a litter box. She desperately needed a bath, but the running water made her start shivering. Calming my princess, I placed her gently into the warm water. She was such a good girl; she stood there with no worries; she knew I was not going to hurt her. Cleaning her to the best of my ability, it took a while to get the awful smell off of her.
