Anarchy is defined one way as, "The philosophy of a new social order based on liberty unrestricted by man-made law; the theory that all forms of government rest on violence and are therefore wrong and harmful, as well as unnecessary". The Bible evokes this message and gives us a model of what a peaceful anarchistic society could and should be like; It tells us of the disadvantages of having a political system, most of which have come true in our modern world.
             The Israelites, the original people of Christianity, started their society in essentially an anarchistic way. Through the common belief in God, many tribes in ancient Israel came together in an egalitarian society. They basically had a free communist society, meaning that there was "voluntary economic co-operation of all towards the needs of each," and "a social arrangement based on the principle: To each according to his needs; from each according to his ability." The Bible reflects this society and tells of how to live out the peaceful anarchistic life, free of oppression from kings or any other enslaving force. This began with the exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt, in which Moses supposedly lead them from the oppression of the Pharaoh through the desert and to Jerusalem. Wanting to be free of a "tributary society" where they are forced to pay taxes and do labor for the king, the Israelites formed a society where they could freely distribute their resources between families.
