The Yali society is far different from the one Americans live in. Using the social perspective can identify them. Seeing the general in the particular, seeing how facts may be the basis of general patterns. Three of these patterns are the negotiation of a wife, wearing things like penis gourds and hoops, and cannibalism. Next seeing the strange in the familiar, so what is strange to you but not them. Some things that were strange to me were Marrying at the age twelve opposed to an older age in many countries, shooting a pig in the heart rather than giving a kiss to end a wedding ceremony, and waiting a week after married there married to move in together. Most people live together before getting married. Finally depersonalizing the person, behavior is a result of social forces. First one is the wife's behavior she is taught to make sure that her husband is happy and that she has a good attitude doing. In general men are socially higher. America was like this, but are beginning to catch up socially. Next is that boys stay with their mother with no real contact with males until age eleven. At that point they move to the men's hut, I believe they do this because the society is driven by men. They can be cared for until they're about to go through puberty after that they can be taught all the things a male needs to know in there society. Last is Cannibalism, only this time it is not only strange, but is a product of social forces. After they win a battle the Yali eat the victim showing dominance.
             The Yali are social beings as they get together and do everyday working activities. Every man got together to build a hut and bridge, it also said in the video that no one works alone.
