Malory's Morte De Arthur does fit the "organic text". I found that some of the books were more difficult to read and others flowed very well. This does not have the cohesiveness in the text. Each book is like a story that focuses on one part of King Arthurs life.For eample, " Whoso pulleth out this sword of this stone and anvil, is rightwise king born of all England. Then the people marvelled, and told it to the Archbishop. I command, said the Archbishop, that ye keep you within your church and pray unto God still, that no man touch the sword till the high mass be all done. So when all masses were done all the lords went to behold the stone and the sword." (Book 1, chapter 5 ) This is an easy read it is clear as to what is happening in the story and fits with the common legend. The entire book seems to read this way. It does seem to be chronological. For example Book one Seemed to tell the story of King Arthur from birth to death and was easy to follow chronologically. It also seemed to be the story focusing on Arthur becoming the King through the focus on pulling the sword from the stone. It also seemed to focus only on the Kingship and the kings knights. There was some mention of his marriage to Guenivere. But it did not include any details of Arthur's personal life. Book two seemed to focus on Balin. I am not really sure who Balin is I find book two extremely confusing because it focuses on the power of the sword. It does not read well and it does not seem to keep my interest because it tells a different story than the common legend. For example, (Book 2 chapter 3) "THE meanwhile, that this knight was making him ready to depart, there came into the court a lady that hight the Lady of the Lake. And she came on horseback, richly beseen, and saluted King Arthur, and there asked him a gift that he promised her when she gave him the sword. That is sooth, said Arthur, a gift I promised you,...
