Death Penalty

             There are numerous aspects of this society that are in dire need of change. However, the aspect of society that I feel the most passionate about and would like to change is the Death Penalty. I feel the Death Penalty is wrong, as it is completely immoral and it violates human rights.
             Two wrongs do not make a right. Sentencing a prisoner to death because they killed someone first does not cancel out. Death is permanent; and our current Death Penalty system is in no way flaw proof. Since 1976 at least 100 people have been freed from death row due to actual innocence. There mere fact that people can and have been wrongfully sentenced to death should send a red flag to everyone.
             Despite the fact that many people have been wrongfully sentenced to death, the Death Penalty is simply immoral. Life is such an important and valuable gift. No human being should ever have the power to take that gift away. The Death penalty diminishes the value of human life as a gift, and completely denies the possibility of starting over or redemption.
             Denying any human being any type of right is a complete violation of human rights. This is essentially what the Death Penalty does. The United States is the only country in the Western world that still executes the Death Penalty. Justice is never completely advanced or better when another human life is taken. The people on Death Row have no choice in their future. Not having a choice between life and death is a complete violation of human rights.
             In order to bring about change in the Death Penalty topic, many more groups and anti-Death Penalty organizations must be formed. The legal profession comes into place as complete case analysis of every single person on death row must be performed. If even more people are found to be free from death row, maybe people will notice that the Death Penalty is wrong.
