A Man/Woman's Financial Reward

             Though mankind and the society have greatly advanced in the XXth century, there are still certain vices left. One of the biggest problems is that the attitude towards the position of women in the society hasn't been improved enough. The first attempt to change this view was made in the beginning of the XXth century by giving them the right to vote. Some Western European countries hadn't made this decision up till the 70's.
             So today women are allowed to vote, however, the greatest part of politicians consists of men with an exception of the Scandinavian countries. Leaving aside the political positions, women are underpaid for the job that they perform. The genders in the society are not equal. For one thing, there are a variety of job advertisements in the newspapers that are only offering highly paid jobs of managers and directors to men and low-paid jobs of dressmakers, cooks and baby sitters for women. The other thing is that even if a woman manages to get a highly paid job, the experience shows that she is still paid less than her male colleagues.
             This offers the idea that women are considered to be less responsible and less hard working. There is a strong contradiction to that. Financial statistics are made to calculate the gross national product that is created by people in the country. The incomes that are earned in a registered job, and from which taxes are paid, are included into the national product. But the gross national product does not evaluate the work that is performed in households by women and which is not registered: cleaning, cooking, changing diapers, making three hot meals a day, taking care of the old ones in the family – these are all jobs for women.
