Journey's End by R.C. Sherriff

In the three act play "Journey's End" by R.C. Sherriff, which is set in a dugout in France in the dying stages of the First World War. The play also takes place over a period of four days. In my opinion, I believe the most admiralable character is Lieutenant Osborne (who is second in command of "c" company). This shows that Osborne believes that Stanhope is the better commander, even though Osborne is more than twice Stanhope's age and has been out in the war for longer.
Another one of Osborne's admirable characteristics is his kindness. We see his kindness when Raleigh, a new officer, enters the play. Osborne helps Raleigh to settle in by giving him a glass of whiskey and a cigarette. He also tells him that the other men call him Uncle.
