It could be due to the fact that while social work utilises these skills, there are many other methods of intervention used in the profession, whereas with counselling, the main method of intervention is the use of these skills.              When analysing methods of counselling, psychodynamic theories cannot be ignored. In McLeod's words, "all counsellors and therapists, even those who espouse different theoretical models, have been influenced by psychodynamic thinking..."
