For years men and women have had relationships without the involvement of sex, and for years it has failed. It's just the way it goes with male hormones. Unless one or both is either married or in a relationship that sexual tension pops up one way or the other, and even then it can sometimes get to you. I admit that the male probably has the first thoughts, but the female usually comes around.
             I know that nothing should get in the way of friendship, but sex has its way of being forced between it. I know from experience that the fact that you are friends and have now had sex, can get in the way more than you might think. What can make it twice as hard is when that jealousy kicks in. Even though you're just friends, seeing them with someone else can still hurt. It's really nobody's fault, it's just human nature.              In Abby Ellin's essay, Just Friends, Abby has a male friend in the beginning by the name of Billy. Abby and Billy were both unattached, and supposedly filled a void in each other's lives. Even though Abby was just expecting a friendship, Billy's hormones were thinking the opposite. After Billy had brought it up to Abby, she let him know that she didn't want anymore than friendship. Since then Abby and Billy have not talked except for when she called and interviewed him for this essay.
             I understand the way Billy feels but I don't think that it was right that he couldn't even try to just be friends. In a way I feel sorry for him. At the time Abby called him for the interview, he had said that he now has friends that are girls, but that is probably just because he recently got into a relationship.
