Decision making is not always easy. Along with the four different types of decisions, there are three steps to help you in making right decisions. They are; studying the moral issue (especially at the Church's view), questioning the issue as to what would Jesus do, and by seeking the Holy Spirits help.
The first type of decisions is called clear-cut decisions. These decisions are clear and often difficult. The decider knows the affects of his decision and the decision is very evident. The second type of decision making is called clouded decisions. A clouded moral issue is an issue in which the right choice is not immediately evident. One must evaluate the benefits of cons, those involved, asking what love tells us to do, and praying for guidance. The third type of decision making is called controversial decisions. This decision is a decision that despite what other good Christians tell us, we follow our own conscience. The last type of decision is contrary decisions. In this most serious moral decision type, one chooses to go against the official Church teaching. Although the Church may be fallible in some cases where they do not make official doctrines or dogmas, such as birth control, most church beliefs (such as the Eucharist being the body and blood of Jesus Christ) are NOT and arguable topic. However, the Church does offer guidance to issues in which they do not take a definite certainty and it is a grave matter to go against the Church in these issues. Catholics may form their own opinions on matter is they have a serious reason for doing so, have questioned the Church's teaching and have a reason for it, have looked for other solutions, and have prayed fervently for guidance.
