Richard Wright's Native Son is a novel about a black boy named Bigger Thomas. Bigger experiences many changes which makes him lose his life. Bigger Thomas and his relationships toward people change throughout the novel. They change from bad to good and good to bad. Whether it be the Daltons, Max the lawyer, Jan the communist, his own family, the families preacher, Buckley, his own friends, or even Bessie his girlfriend. His actions caused his relationships with these people and many more begin to change.
             Bigger is a boy getting himself into many troubles. He was bad from the beginning by wanting to rob Blum's, a little store owned by a white man, and forcing his friends into doing it with him. He himself had fear in robbing Blum's and tried to make it seem like he didn't by abusing his friend, Gus. Bigger felt he had to in order to make his friends, Jack and G.H., to believe that he wasn't afraid but that he was the leader of their group. Bigger was also a disgusting person. He would go the theater to "pleasure" himself with his buddy. By doing this it's showing that he doesn't care. "If she comes back I'll throw it in her." (30) By him saying that he doesn't care and it shows it through the novel.
             Bigger and his relationship with the Daltons changed from good to bad. Mr. And Mrs. Dalton gave Bigger a second chance so he can do well like give him an education. The minute he murdered their daughter, Mary Dalton, started to change the relationship and also the loss of trust. It shows it changed because " he was ashamed of what he had done; he should have been honest with them." (297) Bigger was ashamed that he " wanted to turn his eyes away, but could not. He watched Mrs. Dalton's face; he saw the hand tremble that held the blackened bit of metal." (310) Bigger had "stopped looking even though his eyes remained open." ...
