March 7, 1997.This is a day I will never forget. I can't believe that it has been almost 8 years since this day happened, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. After a week of crying and temper tantrums, it was close to being over. What is "it" exactly? "It" is living in a new foster home in California. "It" is moving and packing up after getting a new set of friends. "It" was supposed to be the end of the feeling of being unwanted and uncared for. But to me, "it" was a start of something new. "It" was a new beginning in a new state with a new "mom". It was all something that I had gotten used to. Living with a family right after the next, not a good way to live for some. To me, I thought it was same old same old. Move with a new family, stay for a while, move again. I mean, I was living this way for as long as I can remember. What was I supposed to think? It was all I knew. So when this lady said," You're coming with me," I didn't even give it a second thought.
Moving away was never a tough thing for me. By the third grade, I had already lived in about 5 or 6 different homes. I was an expert at packing up and leaving, and making up stories about how my life was so glamorous and luxurious, all because I never had any of that. That was the only way I could make friends. I was constantly teased by these friends but I continued to be nice to them. Why? Sadly, they were the only friends that I had. I also felt it wasn't my place to be mean to someone back just because they were mean to me.
So now I was here in a new state with a new "mom" and my sister. Well let me straighten things out. This "mom" is actually my aunt, and this new state was Maryland. Now when I looked at a map, I became so furious. This state "Maryland" was halfway across the world. Maybe not in reality, but it sure did fell like...
