Why we should ban smoking in public places essay

Have you ever been in a Restaurant and seen people smoking right around a baby? How does that make you feel? Are you going to do anything about it, for that innocent baby?
Researchers say that the risk of death from coronary heart disease increases by up to 30% when regularly exposed to the environment of tobacco smoke at home, work and restaurants. Secondhand smoke increases the risk of death in the work environment from deaths per 1,000 works to 16 deaths per 1,000. This kills innocent people that don't have the desire to smoke. In addition to this smoking kills 400,000 people each year and one eighth of those from passive smoking dies. Breathing tobacco smoke can hurt anyone but especially harmful to the elderly, the young and those with respiratory problems.
Some people claim that many argue that adults should have the right to smoke where they please. They would still be able to smoke but just not in public places. I was in a restaurant in a non-smoking section and their were about four people and all the four people were smoking and in a car sit right next to them at the same table was a little baby probably not even a year old. This little innocent baby was getting secondhand smoke and 400,000 people die from just smoking and 1/8 from secondhand smoke. People believe that they should have freedom to be able to smoke where ever they want. Do they want to smoke around little infants?
We could save many people lives and health if we ban smoking in public places. Just think about that poor baby when you're in a restaurant and someone in your family is smoking or you might be smoking. Just think about the lives that you are putting on the line. Therefore, we should ban smoking in public places for a health reason.
