help find sweats, shin pads, pack lunches and all the things that go along with a week of soccer. Having always been what I would call a 'Town Mom' I didn't even have jeans or sneakers, so off we go walking across a field on a very muddy February morning, trying not to let the heel of my boots sink too deep in to the mud. It was cold and there was talk of rain for later in the day, still I'm a Mom now right– how wrong can it go?
             Well come three o'clock we were about to find out, having spent the day at home pretending to know what I was doing, I go to collect the kids, and on getting across the field again to collect then, still in boots (must remember to go out and buy some sneakers) all I can see is a bundle of children, all so caked in mud that its hard to see which ones are yours – we scrub them down a bit until they are recognisable and then try to collect the right kids to take home, promising other Moms and Dads that if once showered they actually turn out not to be a child of ours that we will exchange them for the right ones. Having survived numerous "what the hell are you doing here?" comments from the few parents that I did know we struggle back to the car – next problem soon to befall us, how do you get muddy children in to our 'weekend Jag' without getting mud on the cream leather?????????????? Now I am starting to realize why so may of the other parents had mini vans ! so I made the kids strip down and put as much muddy clothing in the trunk as possible, resisting the temptation to drive them home naked ! We finally make it home with no major mishaps along the way, and having showered the kids I found that I had actually collected the correct ones, a wave of achievement swept over me – see this mom thing isn't so tough after all, the kids had fun, the car was not ruined and dinner was in the oven, and I am sure that the washer could ...
