These two days were filled with tedious tasks around the camp and were often the only time available to see to personal hygiene needs. Most of their time was spent working sixteen hours a day in factories or around the camp making war supplies and other items the Germans needed. Many fell ill and died working in the rain and snow due to inadequate clothing and not enough food.
