Mom a Positive Influence

             Many people can inspire and influence the way one thinks and reacts. I could choose a famous person that led countries to prosper, people that have won Nobel peace prizes or led sports teams to championships. I chose my mother, Sharon P_____. My mother is a woman who has not only been an inspiration but also made me who I am today. My mother grew up in a large family that was by no means wealthy. She taught me to be successful you will have to work for it. Through hard work, dedication and higher aspirations she has proved to be a successful business owner.
             Sharon Phillips learned to work hard at a young age. Money was tight during those times with the only income from her father who was in the Army. Being the second oldest of six sisters living in rural Virginia, she was forced to help with the chores that included putting food on the table. She would also help her mother clean houses to earn money to make ends meet. When she was teenager, she quit high school thinking life would be easier by being at home to help with chores and raising her younger sisters. My mother did well for the family but was failing herself and her needs to build any kind of career after leaving high school. After she was married, she continued to clean houses and some local businesses earning little money. She found other work but for minimum wage. After having three boys one with Hodgkin's disease, the bills piled-up. With money, tight she was regretting that she quit high school. She decided to suck up her pride and go back to school earning her G.E.D. and later a bachelor's degree in business. Now she could use that all the secrets of home and business cleaning to venture out into owning her own commercial cleaning and subcontracting business.
             Through hard work, dedication and higher aspirations in life mom was able to put aside her pride and get back into school earning what she gave up early in life. Thinking long and ...
