Compare and Contrast Essay

             "To be, or not to be," Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Is life worth living, or is it better just to give up and leave the living behind. This was the theme of Shakespeare's play as well as in "A Raisin in the Sun" by Lorraine Hansberry. Although they have very different settings, and a much different method of delivery, both had strong emotional implications regarding the reason of living. The endings were almost like day and night but with that said; doesn't the sun share its influence on earth with the moon? Living in death is truly a tragedy, and living through tragedy can be the meaning of life.
             Hamlet, the prince of Denmark had his world tuned upside down. One day he was a happy vibrant young man with the promise to be a King, and the next he found himself plotting revenge for the murder of his father, all the while dodging his Uncle's attempts to murder him. Hamlet thought about killing himself and ending the torment he found in life. He did not however because he feared the unknown reality of death. Similarly in "A Raisin in the Sun" the Young family faced that difficult question. They were not suicidal like Hamlet was, and they had hopes of happiness and love, where Hamlet only saw demise. In the Young's world they were faced with their dreams dissipating before them. They looked for the promise of money as a way to make their dreams come true, but it did not turn out like they planned. Each of the family members had to decide how to go on living. Whether to continue with hope for their
             dreams or just give up and become bitter at life for the way it had treated them. The way these two plays ended were very different but they had a common bond.
             In the end of "Hamlet" the entire Hamlet family died, and their legacy died with them. Even as tragic as it seemed the young prince's dreams came true. Hamlet avenge
