Of Mice and Men

If your best friend turned on you, what would you do, who would you turn to tell everything to? Having friendship and companionship is a must. There is no way that anyone can make it through life without having someone that they can rely on. In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, two men rely on each other for many reasons, as one needs more help than the other.
If something ever goes wrong, your friend will or should be there to help bail you out of it. Lennie got into some trouble back in Weed and George got him out of there and into safety. George told Lennie that if there was any trouble then he should run to the brush and hide until George came and found him. George is looking out for Lennie as he should. He doesn't want Lennie to get sent off to some institute or anything like that. One more example is, "Lennie was jus' scairt," George explained. "He didn't know what to do. I told you nobody ought never to fight him. No, I guess it was Candy I told." (p.71). George is covering for Lennie because he doesn't want anything bad to happen to Lennie. If anything bad were to happen to Lennie then George would feel guilty and sad, he would miss Lennie. If these friends were there to help you then you would definitely rely on them all the time.

If he hadn't done that then they most likely wouldn't have been able to get the job and have somewhere to stay. People don't like Lennie because of his foolishness. Another example of this is that, George informs Lennie of what to do and not to do like going to hide in the brush and waiting for George. George doesn't want Lennie to get on someone'...
