Moraltiy

             Morality has been questioned, honored and revered by people since the beginning of time. Yet, even today not one person can say what is universally morally right or wrong. Morals can be defined as the distinction between right and wrong or the rules of right conduct. Most people hold many morals when it pertains to their daily lives. Morality and social mores or ethics are words we hear almost daily in our world today. We are constantly making judgements as individuals, and many of these judgements concern morality. Many philosophers have asked the question, "how do we define morality?" Webster's dictionary defines moral as "conforming to a standard of what is right and good.... 2.conforming to a standard of behavior based on one's own ethical judgement."
             If I were to tell you how I felt about the topic of abortion, I would be using my own moral judgement in expressing my own opinion. When I decided on my viewpoint did I use my own moral judgement, or did I conform to a standard of what society says is moral? Did I take into account my religion, or did I simply decide on my opinion because it was the opinion of my peers? Is the way developed my opinion about abortion the same way that you developed your
             opinion? With all of these questions in mind, it brings about the more important question, how do individuals make moral decisions?
             The question of whether a choice is morally right or wrong varies a great deal from person to person. The first step in determining a moral choice from an immoral one is to know the definition of the word moral, which is "of or concerned with the judgment of the goodness or badness of human action". The judgment of a human's action determines the morality of that action. Judgment is "the capacity to make reasonable decisions", and reason is "the basis or motive for an action".
