             SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE: THE FOUNDATION OR FISSURE FOR OUR COUNTRY?
             Foundations are one of the most important parts of houses. When building the foundations very carefully, the owner must know exactly what the house is to look like and what the floor plans are. Since the foundation is the most important part, one cannot start building the foundation until the entire house is planned out. Once all of the floor plans are made, then the foundation is laid so that it will be set for the desired house. If a wall or ceiling is broken down, the problem can be fixed with minimal concern. If there is a flaw or an inaccuracy in the foundation of the house, many problems could arise. Not only is the foundation in need of repair, but the rest of the house has the possibility of crumbling to the ground.
             In recent history, many have argued over the true basis of the foundation of our country. Some people believe that the American Constitution is based on God; others believe it is based on just rules and regulations. There are also others who believe that our constitution is just an example of history. In many cases, everyone is partially right. The Constitution is an example of history that contains rules and regulations. The main disagreement comes from the religion aspect. Can the importance of religion be found anywhere in our constitution? Many people argue that The Constitution itself states that religion should have no part in government. This is where the well-known phrase, "separation of church and state," comes into being.
             "The phrase "Separation of Church and State" has been bandied about for so long that sixty-seven percent of all Americans believe that it is actually in the Constitution" (Separation).
