I believe that it is important for corporations and government agencies to offer diversity training. There are several benefits to this training in regards to the professional work environment. As our reading in the text states, the current work force is an ever changing face of America. Every one in the work place needs to be sympathetic to people with other cultures than our own to promote a positive and healthy atmosphere to all employees so that each member of that company may be able to reach their full potential. This not only benefits the company, but it also is good for the individual worker to feel that they are making a contribution to the company.
             Diversity training is a very sensitive subject in today's world. Most training is focused on the "majority" being more aware to the feelings of the "minority". In order to achieve mutual respect for all people, both sides of the argument must learn to appreciate the other.
             All employees come from vastly different families, where values, morals and opinions differ. Many times children are taught that certain ethnic groups are not preferable, although, if questioned as to why they may feel that way, they are not sure, nor can they give a palpable explanation for their feelings. They may have never had the opportunity to socialize with minorities, and therefore, cannot distinguish their own personal opinion from the regurgitated opinions of their parents, and sometimes their parent's parents, etc. It is a disturbing cycle perpetuated by the unjust prejudice of ancestry. In these situations, diversity training is imperative.
