Cornell Essay on Friendship

             "Forsake not an old friend, for a new one does not compare with him,"
             Of all the gifts that life can send, there is none more perfect than a friend. In the cookies of life, friends are the chocolate chips; there is nothing sweeter than a friend. A true friend is a person that knows you inside and out and is always there for you. It takes a lot of understanding and time and trust to gain a close friendship with someone, but once accomplished, one has a friend for life, since, like love, true friendship never dies. Not even distance can wreck the bonds between two friends because if we want to be with someone we love, aren't we already there?
             Freshman year of high school was a big transition for me. I had a lot of troubles in middle school and wanted to start over in high school. This meant new friends. Lucky for me, less then a month into the school year, I met a new girl Sarah. We had English class together and were paired up for a project. Instantly, Sarah and I became best friends. To this day, I have never clicked with anyone like she and I did. We have been through so much together, and it seems like we have our own code talk--no one can ever understand what we are talking about when we are talking together. We used to spend every moment possible together, but this year, she moved to a different school district. I still consider her my best friend, and we do still see each other, but it was hard to get used to not having her in any of my classes.
             Because Sarah was not in my school anymore this year, I began spending more time with an old friend, Kim. Slowly, Kim and I began hanging out more and more. With out realizing it, it was almost as if Kim was replacing Sarah. I began calling Kim more, and Sarah less. The memories that Sarah and I shared were rapidly being replaced by new memories that Kim and I were making. It eventually got to the point where I was only talking to Sarah about once every tw...
