Robert Frost's "Home Burial" is a sad poem about two tragedies: the death of a child and the collapse of a marriage. The poem is about grief and grieving and the lack of communication. The husband and the wife have two different ways of handling the child's death. The wife's grieving is evident and it tears her apart. She has not accepted her child's death, instead, she views the way of the world as her antagonist, while the husband has accepted the lost and understand the way of the world. The woman fails to understand the husband's way of expressing his sorrow and their lack of communication have damage their marriage.
             The wife has not released the grave and return back to life. She instead has called the world to be evil. She states in lines 103-07:
             Friends make pretense of following to the grave,
             But before one is in it, their minds are turned
             And making the best of their way back to life
             And living people, and things they understand.
             But the world's evil. I won't have grief so
             If I can change it. Oh, I won't, I won't!
             The woman has rejected her husband's way of grieving. She refused to accept her child's death and because she openly expresses this she attacks the husband's emotion for the dead child. The husband does not even understand what it is he does that offends her or why she should grieve openly for such a long period of time. The woman refuses to try to communicate with her husband. She puts herself at the front. She does not allow her husband's grief. She has no patience for his lack of mourning and she tries to leave the house; he begs her to stay and share her grief with him.
