NASCAR

             If your like me being able to drive 195 miles per hour would definitely be a dream. Well in the sport that I am going to talk about going 193 to 225 miles per hour is legal and expected. I am talking about NASCAR. NASCAR is an exciting competitive sport that continues to grow. With that in mind I will focus of the definition of, the history, and the racing.
             NASCAR stands for the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing. It is composed of two sponsors one is the Bush series, the other is the Winston cup series. Winston cup it the most popular because it consists of all the greats, the fastest drivers with the best racing times. Both series draw in more then 19 million fans all coming to see the excitment.
             Although stock car racing is more popular today the ever it can be traced back to the 1920's. From 1920 to 1933 it was illegal to produce, sell, and drink liquor. so many people called bootleggers would illegally run wiskey to market places often racing at high speeds to outrun the police. Soon bootleggers started racing on Sunday and by 1933 when the prohibition ended stock car racing was becoming very popular. By 1938 Bill France organized a race on the beach of Daytona. The winner recieved prizes such as liquor and cigars. France saw the potental of racing and decided to form an organization which we now know today as NASCAR. Today NASCAR sopncers more then 1700 races across the united states. One major race is the Daytona 500, it was first held in 1959 and was the first race on a built speedway. It started a long a prosperous life for NASCAR.
             Nascar racing today is done in cars like this on ash fualt tracks. Throughout the race which can last up to four hours there are eight different flags that can be flown. Including some like the green flag which tells the drivers to start, the yellow flag which means caution or slow down and maintain your current position, the red flag which tells the dricers to stop due ...
