Does everyone have the right to be a parent?
             In biology a parent is usually the individuals which have a diploid cell that undergoes several mitotic divisions and finally about 3 meiotic division giving rise to either a male or female gamete. When the female haploid and male haploid fuse together, a new diploid cell is formed. This is referred to as a zygote. After twenty four hours this diploid cell undergoes its first mitotic division giving rise to two more cells. It does this 4 times until it finally is referred to as a morulla. About three days after fertilization this ball of cells turn into a hollow ball of cells called blastocysts which will implant itself on the uterine wall of a woman's uterus. She then is a parent. The owner of the sperm which fertilized her egg is also the parent of the ball of cell which will later undergo changes to become the embryo and in the third month a fetus, about six months later a newly born baby.
             The process of getting the female gamete fertilized is quite easy and any man and woman with the proper equipments and usually by unprotected sex can come together to create a new individual. The method is easy, but the most crucial period is the gestation period. After the embryo is formed and implanted on the wall, a structure known as the placenta is formed. At about three months when it is fully developed, this structure will be the main source of exchange of nutrients, gases, antibodies, and waste between the mother's blood and fetal blood.
             The mother's lifestyle of this fetus, will determine the health or chances of survival of the child. If the mother is a smoker, she is inhaling carbon monoxide into her blood. This carbon monoxide then binds to the haemoglobin in the mother's blood, therefore preventing the uptake of the oxygen molecules, this leads to a lower oxygen level around the placenta for uptake by the fetus.
