Clinical depression is a plague that affects more people year after year. It is a growing mental condition that is moving down the age ladder, continuously afflicting people younger and younger. Depression affects all types of people; it is neither race specific, nor gender specific. Depression can be caused by many factors such as genetic predisposition, family background, chemical imbalances in the brain, and even other influences of society. Each of these factors can occur simultaneously or independently. These factors can develop from a very young age and other actions or events can trigger depression.
             Not everyone is likely to become depressed; however it is possible that some people are more likely to get depressed then others because of genes in their blood. A child whose mother is clinically depressed may be more likely to develop depression verses a child with neither parents being conflicted. One of my close friends has recently developed depression. His mother was also clinically depressed. It doesn't mean anything bad about the person because depression can develop out of loads of stress as well and a sense of not achieving anything. His mother is a clinical nutritionist and her work is often very demanding of constant attention. His development of depression has come from his mother and also because of the stress at school he faces daily. Stress is a major trigger for depression. The inheritance of depression through genes is seen in chemical imbalances. It has more scientific research to say that if a father or mother or anyone in a direct family line has a chemical imbalance in their brains causing the inhibition of serotonin to reach receptors. That the likelihood of this trait being passed is very great and developing depression has a very high possibility.
