"One nation under God." These are the very words that our country was built around. Yet everyday at school there are constant reminders of restraints put on God. People say that there is no law against religion among students and that kids can pray whenever they want. This isn't enough. It breaks my heart when I look at the faces of teens and I see lives full of hopelessness, rebellion, and sin. Students are searching for something, they've searched for the answer in pills, bottles, and drugs but found nothing. Kids are so desperate nowadays for some truth and meaning that they have taken their own lives. You can make up a thousand excuses for this, but I believe it is the absence of hope for the future and lack of principles, morals, or values. Teachers, administration, and various staff members should be allowed to express what God has done in their lives and not be afraid or ashamed to give kids a biblical word of encouragement.
God was abandoned and shut out by public schools in 1962. Sure students could still pray but had no adult support or biblical teachings other then what they had at home or from their church. It seems that since then (42 years ago) society has turned to other things for hope and based themselves on things that are destructive, sinful, and degrading, rather then pure, clean, and wholesome. Men died horrible deaths (our ancestors, not the new comer's ancestors) to give us this nation, and they did not die wanting, nor thinking that this country would be where it is today. (Sequoyah High School) The reason we fought the British was so we could worship God freely. It's time to honor our forefathers and go back to what this great country was built on.
