It was the preparation, the week after the game that the Eagles were to play the Vikings. News flashed all over, the media glorifying the Viking's quarterback as a tough competitive leader, far as even being better than Donovan McNabb. In any event, the coming NFC championship against the Eagles and the Vikings was far more significant than anyone could have ever imagined. The intensity of Philadelphians all over this city was divided between both ends. Some fans doubted the Eagles win against the Vikings, and others saw it as an excuse to blame it all on Terrell Owens. In any case, I for one believed in our quarterback Donovan McNabb, and the strength of his teammates. I felt we came too far into this season to loose to the Vikings now.
It was Sunday, the day of the big game. The Eagles played hard, tough, and played as a team. They won victoriously. It wasn't Terrell Owens they needed, but faith in the team as a whole. The Eagles were declared the NFC champions by defeating the Vikings here in Philadelphia. Now we were just one game away, one dream away from fulfilling our destiny. When the Eagles won the NFC championship, I was at work at the time, and I can tell you the momentum in that place was jubilant, fans screaming on top of their lungs, and chanting out E-A-G-L-E-S several times. Seeing their enthusiasm made me feel excited as well. I am sorry to admit it, but I am not a huge football fan, but I became one that day.
I called my boy-friend as soon as I heard the Eagles victory over the Vikings. I dialed the number, it rang, and all I could hear on the other end of the line was shouting, screaming, and singing. First I thought to myself, I must have dialed the wrong number, but no, it was no mistake. It was him alright. My boyfriend, Steve, was in another world than the one he was already living in. A world which I believe are made for football fans, which just surpasses my understanding.
