Huck finn

             How many books can someone actually say they want to ban from school? Many schools believe that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain should be banned from school because of the "racist" attitude that comes with the book, but in reality this book is just a fact of our history and culture. When this book came it was such a singular novel to many people that they thought that it should be banned because it went against there culture, but Winston Churchill made a good point by saying that"...but some peoples idea of it is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage" (Doyle n.p). The dialect and the way Twain went against the way the law was and helped African- Americans become free from slavery is just a couple reasons why schools believe that this book should be banned from school. This book should be read across the United States in any school because it reflects back to our past; therefore students need to know how much the United States has grown.
             One of the main reasons why this book should be read is because it has a lot to do with the United States history and culture. The way our country used to be is there was plenty of slavery and white people did not treat African-Americans with any rights or respect. This book took place during reconstruction where the U.S. was trying to rebuild the south, but Mark Twain did not feel like this was working so he wrote about slavery. Students need to know about our history and culture, and by them reading this book it can give examples of the way life used to be. The culture in the 1800's was one where people grew up learning that slavery ok, so many people thought no different about the way they treated many people. Huckleberry Finn shows how much our culture has changed they way that the United States thinks, and it has shown how much this country has grown. This book is the turning point for the 1800&apo...
