Conflict Resolution

             Money management conflicts are one of the leading causes of conflict in businesses. There are many reasons that money management conflicts may occur, people may have different priorities for spending money, different motivations for spending money, may see the company growing at different speeds or in different directions. For example one manager may think that the best use of company funds is to buy a new copier and another manager may think that it would be better to spend the money for advertising. Another example of a money management conflict is the operations manager of a company thinks that the best use of money is to open another division in another state but the general manager thinks that it would be better to buy a larger fleet of trucks so that the company could deliver to more places from the existing location, without the additional overhead of a second location. Still another example is that the accounting manager might want to purchase new accounting software while a sales manager may want to purchase data base software for marketing. These are all conflicts that can be resolved in a way that promotes positive growth.
             These conflicts and any other that may arise, should be used as an opportunity to grow and make the best financial decisions possible. The best solution for many money management conflicts is to develop a business plan and budget in advance; planning for these kinds of issues can help to avoid many of the conflicts that will otherwise occur. Once there is a strategy in place everyone should then be onboard with, and have a clear understanding of how the money will be spent. A good budget should include forecasting for future growth and should try to take into account each departments needs.
