Euthanasia

Have you ever wondered about the death throes involved in death penalty as much as in euthanasia? Is there any resemblance between them? Were there any differences, are they not blurry and overwhelmingly subtle in some cases?
To begin with, euthanasia has become a matter of considerable controversy at present in the same way that death sentence grew into a topical issue a few years ago. Most of knowledgeable people and neophytes argue about the right to put an end to someone else's suffering as they did about the claim that a sentence to death was the only way to preserve life from convicted murderers.
Unmistakably, both aim irrefutably towards terminating life itself, no matter whatsoever laws or justifications they are supported by.
Finally, man is empowered to decide on another human being's fate. Man is empowered but is he entitled to do so?
In regard to the distinctions between euthanasia and death sentence, the first can be defined as the act of painlessly killing someone who is very ill or old to reduce their suffering; and the later is the legal punishment of particular crimes by death.
Inconceivable though it may seem, the main difference between them –relief versus punishment- is the gaping wound in mankind's conscience. Should the ill be treated in the same way as the evil, the boundaries between right and wrong would inevitably fade.
To conclude, perhaps the prime matter we should deal with is our right (or lack of it) to invest ourselves with the power of God, and our respect (or lack of it) for the undeniably precious gift of life.
