Of mice and men

In the novel Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck creates many interesting characters. Each character has his or her own unique personality - his or her own traits. I think that George Milton is the most memorable. The traits that he exhibits are him being sharp, regretful, and understanding. He is the most memorable character in this story for me because of the following reasons.
George is a very sharp man; he catches on to little things very quickly, and also very easily. For example, when Curley's wife comes into the bunk and claims that she is looking for Curley, he knows why she is really there. He understands that she just wants to cause trouble for him and Lennie. Another occasion is when he is talking to Lennie about the farm that they are going to get, and Candy is listening in on their conversation. He decides to let Candy in on their plans, yet George tells them "Don 't tell nobody" Ch. 3, pg. 61. George knows that if anyone finds out about their plans, that they will do anything possible to stop them from accomplishing their dream.
He is also a regretful person, for he wishes he hadn't done or said certain thing that he had done or said in the past. In one case he talks to Slim, and confesses about how he used to play practical jokes on Lennie. As George is confessing to Slim, he tells him that in one occasion he told Lennie to jump in the Sacramento River, and he, and he did. The thing was that Lennie didn't know how to swim, and he was drowning, although George helped save him, he was the one who caused it. Other occasions are when Lennie does something wrong. George tells him "When I think of the swell time I could have without you, I go nuts. I never get no peace." Ch. 1, pg. 12.George does really feel this way, yet he feels bad for saying the thing that he said, because he knows that Lennie doesn't know any better.
The final character trait is that he is understanding. ...
