Unfortunately the film's 'far-out' nature lead to a number of profit-restricting decisions preventing Eternal Sunshine from being the box-office success that reflecting it's notable praise from critics. Eternal Sunshine is still considered a commendable cinematic feat and can be called 'successful' because of this quality. Although it suffered publicly due to a lack of exposure and mis-marketing under the guise of a Romantic-Comedy Eternal Sunshine managed to draw a sizable audience attracted by its abstract, unconventional narrative. The final conclusion is that Gondry's film is very successful as a movie.
