A gentleman sits at a large oak desk. In one hand is a feather, which he occasionally dips in a bottle of ink. He is writing to his lover with beautiful, curvy lines. When he ends the letter he seals the envelope and sends it off. However, in today's high-tech society many communicate by using different forms of technology. With the constant improvement of technology, more people are becoming lazy, and many things are becoming less personal. As technology becomes more improved, the art of letter writing is on the decline.
Writing a letter is an art because it is a beautiful thing to put feelings and thoughts into words and then express them on a piece of paper that was once blank. It is no different than a blank canvas and a paint brush. I am not saying that the telephone or computer should have never been invented, chatting on the phone and receiving emails is sometimes beneficial to keeping informed in today s world. However more people should write an occasional letter other than sending off an email. The word-processor is also an amazing tool. Though when writing a letter with the word-processor the letter seems to planned out, to perfect, and simply not personal enough. It is neat, convenient, faster, but at times sending a hand written letter is so much more special.
These inventions have also made society lazier. When emailing a friend most hardly ever worry about capitalizing or even using apostrophes. The feature of AOL called the instant message is even worse. Many people who converse on the internet use one letter acronyms instead of typing out a word in full. Due to the fact that many people use this tool it has crippled the way many people write.
