My life in Cyprus has been a very eventful one. I have broken it into three parts. First is the arrival. Second is the life in apartment off campus and third is life in the dorms.
             It all started on the 8th of October 2003 when I landed at the Gecitkale airport at 10 p.m. It had been a very tiring trip as I had a 14 hour long stay at Istanbul.
             I and my friend came out of the airport to find a lot of people with boards of university names. It was very confusing as none of them were speaking any other language than Turkish. I did not know then that it would become one of the biggest challenges for me in Cyprus. It was a cultural shock for me. I tried to communicate with the one's who were representing our university, bit to no avail. Finally I was on the bus which was to take us to the university.
             Through out the journey I kept on wondering where the city was. Because there were no houses or shops in sight. As a matter of fact I didn't even see too many cars on the road. Where was I? Was this the right Cyprus? Where is the university? These were the only things on my mind.
             The bus finally reached the university. This was another shock for me. No lights all sand and lots and lots of wild dogs. "This isn't the university they wee showing on the website". I went to the desk and called for some one who could show us our rooms in the dorms. Still problems were all around me as no one there as well was speaking any English. One of the Pakistani students in the dorms showed me my room where I finally slept.
             The apartment was in KucukKaymakli. It was a nice three bedroom place. We were three people living there. The apartment was provided by the university as they did not have any place in the dormitories on campus. The registrar had convinced me into living here as he said it was much better because we could have more privacy here. Life was pret
