             Evaluating Intenet Sites as Resources
             The internet is not a valuable source for academic research. In general, web sites are not good sources in academic research because they are suspect to lots of propaganda. Because the internet has such a vast array of information, the amount of truly valid and unbiased sources is extremely limited. When evaluating web pages using Jean Wyrick's "Five Criteria for Evaluating Web sites" it is much easier to see why the internet is biased and lacking authority. Therefore, the internet is not a trustworthy research tool when it comes to the purer arena of academic research.
             After a brief look at the internet and a quick search along came the web page Biblical Heritage center. The web address is www.biblicalheritage.org. This page was very biased and had many promotional ads. Internet sites are usually centered on the advertisement of goods, which consequentially makes them biased. Although the internet can provide people with quick information over a wide variety of topics, it is driven primarily by commercial interests. The web page Biblical Heritage Center was based on selling merchandize and getting donations to Bible programs. In the margin, there were pictures of biblical books that were for sale. At the bottom of the page were links to bookstores and religious groups. Different companies' had icons promoting their merchandise for sale. There were many links to organizations looking for new members. This web page was presented with colorful images that would catch the eye but further investigation unfolded the pictures were links to online stores selling bibles. This biased opinion of biblical views and promotional ads definitely gave way to the assumption that the web page was unreliable.
