Snowboarding

             Every year many children look forward to the whole week of no school although no one wants winter break more than I do. Every year it's tradition to spend a couple days in the wonderful Heavenly resort in Lake Tahoe, with the snow piling at your feet there is no better way to savor the moment than to go snowboarding. Many lessons and steps are necessary to ensure a safe ride down the mountain.
             The first thing in taking a ride down a mountain is to obtain the right equipment. By doing this you must decided whether or not you are a goofy or regular snowboarder. One process to figure this out is to see which foot is the most dominant. If your left foot is more comfortable in front then this means you are a regular and visa versa. This will help you get the perfect boots and settings for your board. To get the perfect board you will need to get one that is proportional to your body length and to see which one best suits you, a board between your chin and nose would do just fine. At the resort, you can ask an instructor to obtain the basic settings for your board so you can have a fun filled day.
             With all your equipment ready, learning the basic maneuvers is the next step. The most important part of snowboarding is learning how to stop. There are two different ways of stopping, one is where you can dig your heels into the snow and lean your body a little back. Another technique is stopping on your toes where you push your body forward and dig your toes into the snow. After practicing how to stop, the next simple technique is to 'leaf' down the mountain. Like a leaf falling slowly from the sky you want to attempt this down the mountain while riding side to side down. After this is familiarized then a method of working your legs is called doing 'S.'
