Have you ever notice the similarities and differences between two sisters? Well I have. Lupe and Carlota are young Hispanic girls that are trying to live their life day by day. They both have different ways of living their life. One has a different attitude than the other. They even have their own unique style and their way of thinking. In the novel, Rain of Gold by Victor Villasenor, Lupe and Carlota have their similarities and differences throughout the novel.
Lupe and Carlota's similarities occur throughout the story. To begin with, both of them come from a big family. They have other siblings living just like them. Both of them come from a tough Hispanic background. They are two young beautiful sisters that try living life each day. They are both hard workers in their own special way. " Lupe got the shock of her life when she came home from gathering wood..." (pg. 237). Lupe is trying to help her mother by showing her how hard she works. As for Carlota, she is also a hard worker. "Can I go with you? "asked Carlota." I will cook and clean for you while you work" (pg177). Carlota is also trying to show how hard she can also work. As it turned out, Lupe and Carlota have many similarities between them.
Lupe and Carlota have their differences. Lupe is the type of girl that is calm. She doesn't like to show off like Carlota. Carlota is those type of girls that wears a lot of make up and flirts a lot. As for Lupe, she doesn't like going dancing. "Lupe "said her mother, seeing her daughter's hesitation! " You're not the type of girls who even likes to go to dance" (pg.318). For Lupe, dancing is not an option for her. She wants to have a good education and be responsible for herself. In the other hand, Carlota hopes to be rich someday. She is older and a loud person.
