ect left. The end of this scene sees Hal deliver a very key monologue in the play. In the soliloquy Shakespeare indicates a calculating and devious nature in the prince. Hal speaks of "imitating the sun". Throughout this play the sun is used as a metaphor for kingship. Earlier in this scene the prince says that he and Falstaff are the "moon's men", this was a common name for thieves, but it could also be interpreted as a contrast to the image of the sun as royalty. Hal's soliloquy is ominous and this scheming side of his character which he shows could possibly make him a successful king.
