how the legal system fails regarding the issue of justice and how the correctional system can be guilty of fraudulent and criminal acts. Through familiarity of the characters, the audience witnesses the despair of life behind bars and the fear of returning to the outside world. It also explores real life transition and costs for prisoner reentry or reintegration into society.
             The protagonist, played by Tim Robbins, is Andy Dufresne, a reserved young banker convicted of killing his wife, although the murder weapon was never found. When Andy arrives at Shawshank Prison, he befriends Red, portrayed by Morgan Freeman. Red is the guy to see for black-market items such as cigarettes, candy, and whatever else one might want.
