Legalization of Marijuana

             I think that marijuana should not be an illegal drug. In technical term cannabis, or for the average American, marijuana, it is used for recreational purposes. Despite its widespread use as a recreational drug, instances of causing a death are very rare. . I think that some legal drugs are just as bad as marijuana. For example alcohol has many of the same side effects as marijuana, Alcohol buffers the central nervous system and kills brain cells. There is evidence in Holland and in U.S. states that have decriminalized marijuana suggests that the use of alcohol and other drugs have reduced when marijuana use was legalized. A joint of marijuana and cigarette as more tar than a cigarette but on the average marijuana smokers do not have as much tar build up on their lungs as person who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day. In addition both alcohol and cigarettes have been proven to be physically addictive were marijuana has not been. When people hear the phrase, ¡°legalization of marijuana,¡± they only think of the people smoking it to get high not for using it as a medicine. Maybe people should not smoke marijuana for the sole purpose of getting high only.
             In addition, Marijuana should be a prescription drug. It is a controlled substance that should be legalized for medical use. Marijuana is a plant that can save AIDS or cancer patients. It is the plant that fights nausea and appetite loss, so that once the nausea subsides they also have a desire to eat. Cancer patients find marijuana a helpful drug for the same reasons. In both California and Arizona, a doctor can prescribe the drug if you suffer from certain ailments. For example, if one suffers from cancer, marijuana can control the nausea associated with it. . If marijuana can help stop people¡¯s physical suffering, then it should be available to them.
