TV has become a pillar of sand in our society. We rely on it for entertainment, comfort and news, but in the end, it will crumble and fall. Most would argue that the television is a positive influence in the lives of teens, because of its entertaining and educational aspects. Unfortunately, teens in this day and age do not watch the Discover Channel or CBC. The good influences are lost, because they are too 'boring' or 'drab'. For every one of these excellent programs or television stations, there are two that are immoral. From the television, we can observe many negative influences, but only three stand out. TV gives teens desensitized views of violence, gives them disrespectful and rude humour, and nutritional 'information' that brings meaning to the word rubbish. Examining these influences might provide us with ammunition to demolish them.
             The decomposed body is cut up, displaying several organs in a sickly fashion. A boy, not much younger than eleven, yawns, as if nothing is wrong. If it were fifty years ago, the show would have forced many people to become sick or complain to the station. In this day and age, violent shows, such as "CSI" and "Jackass" portray violence as something to be entertained by or laughed at. We have become desensitized, no longer realizing the impact these images and gore has on our hearts and minds. Many people say that this stuff is fine, but it has been seen to cause violent behaviour. Many severe injuries have been attributed to teens trying to recreate stunts on the show. How can people be set on fire, ran over, killed and people just say this is alright? If we give children desensitized views on violence, who says they won't care or feel guilty if they kill someone? The blame would lie on our shoulders, and we have to make the right decisions to avoid problems like these.
