In "Mirror for Man" by Clyde Kluckhohn, culture is crowned responsible for the differences between individuals. Kluckhohn also goes on to state ,in simpler terms, that ultimately culture can be defined as "being brought up that way". Furthermore, Kluckhohn states that if you group the same individuals from a single culture you can predict certain patterns. Such patterns are eating habits or sleeping cycles. I agree with Kluckhohn in that culture is a learned life style and that it separates major groups in the world.
Kluckhohn explains of a "Chinese American Man". A baby boy of American decent is orphaned in China. Luckily the child is taken in by a Chinese family and raised as one of their own. Once the boy reached maturity he immigrates to America where all who meet him are bewildered. All of this young mans physical traits are American but, his conduct is identical to a typical Chinese male. This example is perfect in how it illustrates how culture is a learned life style. Although this child is American by decent because he was raised in Chinese culture that is what separates him from being American. Overall this demonstrates how lineage doesn't determine an individual's conduct. In reality a person's conduct will be determined by their assimilated culture.
An interesting thing about culture is how you can predict certain patterns about individuals of the same culture. From personal experience let's take the Latino culture for example. In the Latino culture it can said that most individuals would stay close to there families even once they reach the age of adulthood. For example when a couple gets married the couple will choose to allocate themselves close to both families. Or another example, as Kluckhohn states, if you look at Americans it can be said that most Americans will brush their teeth when they wake and consume on average three meals a day. As humans we are biologi
