             The Sherlock Holmes stories have lots of excitement, which is one of the most important and key ingredients in crime fiction. One of the things that happens often in Sherlock Holmes stories is murder, this is very popular due to it's macabre, mysterious and menacing effect it puts upon its readers which makes them want to read on and find out a whole load of possible facts associated with the murder, for example motives, suspects, and murder weapons.
             Surprisingly fights are still extremely popular on television and elsewhere, some will argue that particularly the poorly educated enjoy violence but in my opinion, most people nowadays enjoy the thrill of fights, violence and weaponry. Another very popular part of crime fiction appears in most Sherlock Holmes stories and that is chases. Chases are still a key characteristic of 'Hollywood' action films.
