Ameican Identity

             Each of us knows today a lot about America. There is no other country, which would have the same degree of popularity. It is due to the fact that America is seen as a country of successful, dynamic, popular and rich people. It is so, but, to my mind, it means nothing. A wealthy country should also have its own unique and homogeneous national character. If we turn to America, we will see a great number of immigrants, which national characters trace back to the country the came from. It means that since the very beginning of the country's life it had not homogeneous national character, but a chaotic mixture of national characters, in fact. Some would say that this mixture forms a unique American character, others – there is no American character at all.
             If we agree with complete absence of America's national character, we would inevitably face the question: if there is no American character, what influences so much upon other countries' culture and mass culture? How can we answer it, when Pop-culture of America is everywhere: in lots of countries people watch American films and cartoons, listen to American music and buy American food? The situation becomes harder and harder as the English language becomes more and more popular. Now it is an international language and a great number of people speak it.
             Myself I would undoubtedly say that there is an American character, also it is a mixture of other peoples' cultures and characters. It seems to me that if it is possible to single out the key features of the American, we shouldn't doubt about the presence of their national character.
             First of all I would say that Americans are dynamic and easy-going. If an American stays at one house or place for a long time, he would certainly have a desire to move to another place. If we compare it to Russian people, we'll see that they are much more attached to their place and wouldn't like to change it. I...
