ijuana. One of the major lobby groups is M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). This group's main focus is drinking and driving, but they have expanded to the effects of marijuana and driving. M.A.D.D. has fought hard a couple of times against the government on Bill C-10, which is an Act to make changes to the Contraventions Act and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act4. M.A.D.D. wants the government to pass legislation on new impaired-driving laws. They believe the government is escalating the danger of driving on the roads, and also, not providing for a proper police force5. Andrew Murie, who is the National Director Executive of M.A.D.D. stated,
             "The Government is aware of legislation that will keep roads safe from drug-impaired drivers. Police need the authority to detect and charge drug impaired drivers. Effective safeguards should be in place before we make marijuana easily accessible to the public, and particularly to young motorists, who are already over-represented in impaired driving crashes and fatalities"6.
